Healing Happens Best in Connection
Footprints Early Childhood Intervention was established in 2023, inspired by the well-loved poem “Footprints in the Sand.”
Just as the poem reminds us that we are never alone in our hardest moments, Footprints was founded on the belief that every child and family deserves someone to walk beside them — to carry them through the challenges and celebrate each small step forward.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
At Footprints, we believe that true healing happens when we address the root, not just the surface.
Rather than focusing only on symptoms or behaviours, our approach looks deeper — to the experiences, relationships, and emotions that shape each child’s story.
By supporting children, teenagers, and families to understand and heal from the inside out, we aim to nurture genuine, long-lasting growth.
Our work is grounded in empathy, attachment, and connection — helping families build strong foundations and valuable skills for the future.

OUR STORY
Footprints was born from both my professional journey and my personal story.
I established Footprints Early Childhood Intervention in 2023, inspired by the “Footprints in the Sand” poem — a reminder that even in our hardest moments, we are never truly alone. I wanted to create a service that walked beside families in that same way: with compassion, strength, and understanding.
Throughout my life, I’ve experienced my own share of trauma. Those experiences shaped me in many ways — they made me deeply empathetic, sometimes overly so, and left me hypervigilant to the emotions and needs of those around me. For a long time, that sensitivity felt like a burden, but over time I’ve learned to see it as a gift.
That deep attunement now helps me connect with children and families who are walking their own paths of healing. I understand what it means to feel overwhelmed, unseen, or unsure — and I know the incredible difference it makes to have someone who truly understands, standing beside you.
Footprints is built from that place of understanding. It’s a space where families are met with empathy, not judgment. Where healing begins at the root — not by simply addressing behaviours or symptoms, but by gently uncovering the “why” beneath them.
Every child’s journey is unique, and every step forward is meaningful. My hope is that Footprints offers families a place to find safety, connection, and hope — a place where different makes a difference.
“Our wounds can become our wisdom when we use them to help others heal.”
FAQ

What is Early Childhood Intervention?
Early Childhood Intervention is specialised support for children (and their families) who may be experiencing developmental delays, disabilities, or social and emotional challenges.
At Footprints, we focus on each child’s individual needs — helping them build skills, confidence, and emotional safety through play, connection, and evidence-based approaches.
What makes Footprints different from other therapy services?
At Footprints, we don’t just treat symptoms — we work to understand the root cause behind a child’s challenges.
Our approach is relationship-based and grounded in Interplay Therapy, which focuses on healing through connection, attachment, and attunement. We believe real and lasting growth happens when children and families feel safe, understood, and supported.
Do you only work with young children?
No. While many of our families have young children, we also support teenagers up to 18 years old and their families.
The principles of Interplay Therapy and our family-focused model apply across all ages — helping young people strengthen relationships, emotional regulation, and self-awareness at every stage of development.
How do I apply for the NDIS?
To apply for NDIS Early Childhood Intervention, you need to contact the NDIS to discuss your child’s needs and circumstances. If your child is eligible, you will be guided through the application process, which may involve providing medical and developmental reports.
How do I get started with Footprints Early Childhood Intervention
Getting started is simple. You can contact us directly via phone or email to book an initial conversation or click on the “Join Today!” link at the top of the screen.
We’ll take the time to listen, understand your child’s needs, and discuss which of our supports — such as Interplay Therapy, Key Worker support, Parent & Child Group, Therapy Assistant, or Support Worker — would best fit your family.
If you’re an NDIS participant, we can also guide you through how your funding can be used for our services.
